new stock

I just got a new garand at of all places a garage sale! The barrel is rust free and the bore is shiny. How ever the stock has some large cracks and gouges and many smaller scratches and dents. I am looking for a descent and not to expensive wood stock for it and I don't mind if I have to finish it my self. Thanks

New / Replacement M1 Stock

You could try here for used M1 stocks:

http://www.dougsstockpile.com/index.html

(I've not done business with 'em, but their reputations seems pretty good.)

Alternatively, both Brownell's and Midway have sold Boyd's replacement stocks in the past. Some folks don't like 'em, as they may have dimensional issues. I have one Boyd's stock, and it works just fine for me.
Cheers,
Ben

Thumbs up

Another suggestion is to see if Stock Doc, one of G&G's best stock rebuilders, would work on your stock. Pictures of some of his quality work can be found in "search" on G&G.

New Garand Stock

Another possible source is is CMP: http://odcmp.com

I have one of these; it seems to work just fine in a "shooter."

Cheers,

Ben
