Reunited two 4 digit Garands Concecutive

Well after 67 years I reunited two Garand receivers that were made in March or 1939 . The first receiver #9989 I bought/traded from Scott Slauson a few years back was sold thru the CMP June 12th 2002 and the second #9988 was sold thru the CMP Feb 28 2006. I want to thank John Monaccio for getting the 9988 for me and holding on to it while we made arrangements for me to put them together again.
The machine work :smash: is almost identical on them and stamped markings except the 88 1 2 on the underside in the follower arm and op rod catch channel. Not sure why that is there and the receiver is 9988 so maybe the 88 has something to do with that??
I thought some folks may enjoy these. Rick B

Nice pair. Ain't it fun collecting? I tell you what, when you can put two together out of nearly 6 million produced, that's accomplishing something. And when they're among the oldest vice the newest, well that makes it even more special.

Tougher than that was I owned two Winchester Educationals at one time 100185 and 100434. I sold 434 to a guy who owns 432 and 433 so he has 3 consecutive Educationals. Now that is the hardest I think.
I almost bought another but passed since it was reingraved to highlight super faint markings. Rick B

I have no doubt that 6099664 and 6099667 are out there. I'm also certain that they were also DCM Type 1 NM sales rifles. If you see one of them, holler. I'll take a 2nd mortgage if I have to!
