Well Google started link to the patent office and I have been having fun searching the Garand. The thing to keep in mind is people will leave small parts out until they are building so if someone steal there patent it would not work so watch out if copying.
The one below is one of my favorites as it shows the complete Garand in 1928. When searching look up everything you can think of not just Garand. Try years with it like I did on this one by putting "Garand Gas cylinder". Try Garand and dates as far back as in the 20's Have fun.
