Garand .308 cal

Gents,

At a dutch forum we have a discussion about the Garand in .308 cal.
A member there just bought one but the discussion is about the bushing.
Its a SA from Nov-44 with serial # 332****
The barrel is from 5-56 with a post stamp which says AY
It's a SA barrel.
The discussion is: is this an original 308 re-build by SA or is it a "gun shop" set up or a Italian (Breda/Beretta) rebuild/bushing??
I got some pictures from him but they are not very sharp!

Barrel says SA 5-56 YA
I have to ask for barrel drawing number though.
The discussion on the dutch board is: is it a 30-06 barrel with insert or a SA barrel in 308 cal.
As far as I know they didn't rebarrel to 308 in the 50's but for the Navy in the early 60's!
So this should be a 30-06 barrel with an insert!
I think i see an insert but don't know for sure.
But because there are more experts here on the board than in the Netherlands ...so those who have an idea please let me know
