Ed you just found why there is a 2S plate I bet. There are two Seymour {if spelled correctly} companies contracts. Now that is neat and a good possibility. Rick B

They found a 2S on the underside of Butt plates and always stated it was a Winchester part. Rick Hamby and I did allot of research and found this plate on the GHS period and EMcF. We have also found the not all Winchesters came with a 2S marked plate but since it is in books now folks are always taking off the plates when found on Springfield rifles and putting them on all WRA rifles. It is one of the biggest mistakes known to date that people do. I always get a kick out of hearing people say "My rifle was 100% except the Butt plate It was a 2S WRA so I took it off"" or I hear" the Rifle was 100% correct except the 2S plate wasn't on it so I put it there to make it correct. It really is a big mistake when folks change these rifles without keeping the parts that were on them until they find out if something it wrong. Yes WRA used the 2S plate but it was POSITIVELY used on Springfield rifles. The sub Contractor sold to more then just Winchester I guarantee . Hope this helps. Rick
