M1/Order as "Standard Issue" Adopted

Gentlemen,
This is for many of you new guys. This file is the Order that made the M1 Garand Rifle as standard issue for our troops. However, at that point in time there have been no production line M1 Garands built. They will not come on line until July of 1937. So the USA has them but don't try to get one until 1937. There were 80 tool room models that have been built but they are test rifles made in the tool room at SA. I hope you find this file of interest.

Without input from you guys no one learns anything Try to put in some info/question and we can learn more of the M1's History.

So if some of you think you had a long wait for your M1 from CMP. Think about this guys.
Thanks again
Clancy

actually I do have a comment though these files from the US War Department are interesting I am really wanting to find out about how Mr. Garand came up with the machining process to build this rifle. As we all know Mr. Garand even made the tools to produce it. So I was wondering if you mr clancy could dig up some info on the machining process. you may have allready touched on that. but that would be great

tbonecpk,
If your looking for machining data yes I have files on that but you must remember that 60 years ago no one thought that these rifles would become so collectible. Many files over the years were lost or destroyed. Take my CD it has receivers, barrels, stocks, test firing on it. I have posted data on the machine and files on the sub-contractor's. I will post some as we go along.
Thanks again for your input
