| Blue Sky Can anyone tell me what a Blue Sky Garand is? I saw one today, pristine condition. Seller said it was rearsenaled in the mid-50's, and the barrel is marked Blue Sky. Seller said it also had a match/comp operating rod? Any ideas/info is much appreciated!

| The Blue Skys were brought in from Korea. The early ones had the name stamped in large letters and very deep. They must have done it with a punch press because they flattened some of the bbls out of round enuf they wouldn't shoot good. The next batch had the letters about half as big and much lighter/shallower stamped. Never heard of any problems with those. I got lucky, All of the early Garands I bought did not have the bad bbls even tho they had the large deep stamp. Still have a couple of them. Sarge |

| They are fine. Many people do not like import marked guns. Keep in mind, you can also change barrels. Tell us more about the rifle. How much is the seller asking? |

| Like has been stated here, Blue Sky is an importer's stamp that was mandated by the government in order for civilian importers to bring the Garand and Carbine back into the U.S. The stamp has nothing to do with the weapon being rebuilt. Ask the buyer for proof of the rifle being rebuilt in the 1950's. Also, it is unlikely that an arsenal rework will have national match parts intermingled with standard parts...that is usually something done at an owner level. Do you have an opportunity to shoot it? What's the asking price? |
