| Receiver I have a Garand with the serial # 4297456 and a drawing # D 6528291 43. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is a correct receiver or a reweld. Thanks |

| That serial number belongs, I believe, to Springfield Armory's range. The M1 garand stripped receiver I have in my hands and my repair manuals say a receiver is drawing number D 28291. This rec is D 28291-17. I couldn't find drawing number D6528291 43 in my early garand materials. You should be able to spot a reweld, though. If they were welded and milled down to where one couldn't tell it would probably be good, though it might flex or be brittle at the juncture. This receiver on my desk has tool marks that span the area. Pop the rec out and examine this area between the "legs". You can see a weld, or discrepancy in the color or tool mks of the two,or the weld that joins them. |

| No Such thing as a Reweld on a part that was never welded to begin with. It would be called a Welded receiver. Rick B
