Good friend, ordered a 2nd CMP Garand from the CMP. A Correct Grade H&R. He, umm, call him Charles for no particular reason, told me both rifles would be shipped to my house.
Charles!!!
But he insists he doesn't want wife to know how many guns/rifles he has. If he sneaks it in, he can just say, "I've always had it."
My lovely and gracious little wifey doesnt know a Garand from a Mauser.
"Charlie, some day she'll find out." I told him.

Anyway, it came the other day. An H&R Correct Grade.
Parkerizing is almost perfect. Stock and handguards are in great shape with some storage marks. Mechaniclly, the action is stiff and sounds like it's not worn in yet. I put a little grease on the bolt, op rod action and the op rod guide. Made a little difference. Everything else is in excellent shape. Barrel is Very Clean and Very Bright. Muzzle bullet test- A-OK. Don't have T.E. guages but most likely Throat Erosion is minimal.
Wiped stock down with boiled linseed oil and 0000 steel wool. Wiped off and re-appiled another coat. Stock cleaned up nicely and and the walnut color came back.
I got to drool over it for a few days.

This thread is similar to previous "doesn't want his wife to know".
Charles ordered 2 Garands. 1 SA shooter and 1 HRA Correct Grade.
My charge cards are paid off. Hmmm? That H&A is soo tempting to place an order for.
At this time I'm hoping #2 son will run across one of his freinds who wants to sell his father's Garand.

You could order your own or wait to see if Charlie sells one of his once the wife seems the credit card billing statement.

He wants a good shooter and one to look at. "Look at!!!"
The ol boy is not interested in selling either of them.
Maybe he'll put me in his will. His son doesn't have a clue about which end to hold.
