| problem with taking apart! I am having trouble taking my garand apart. It seems that I can't pull the trigger guard down to take it apart. I have tried but nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions? |

| Senior Member | Place a screw driver shaft perpendicular thru the trigger guard, just behind the trigger. With either two fingers or two hands straddling each side between the guard, pull back and down. The shaft gives you the leverage. |

| Senior Member | Right!! The cocked or uncocked status has no advantage in unlatching. An interesting side note. If you had a misfire, and you wanted to recock the rifle without opening the bolt, you could recock the trigger mechanism by unlatching and bringing the trigger guard foward and back. Thus the rifle is recocked, and you did not take a chance by opening the bolt. |
