M1 Garand National Match Price?

I've got an SA M1 Garand built into a National Match configuration. It has a Krieger heavy stainless match barrel, Malazo sights and trigger and has been glass bedded. It also has a sling from Loni Tamm of Hawaii, its slightly longer for prone and sitting firing. I havent gotten maybe a couple of matches through it since it was built because I moved away from ranges offering High Power shooting. I'm seriously thinking of selling it to buy an AR carbine but I havent got a clue what its worth. Anybody have a ball park figure in mind? Shooting coat was sold awhile back, it didnt fit anymore (never store clothes in the basement). Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Casey,
Where'd ya move to? Several areas in Wisconsin that have matches.

As far as value, I'd jump onto the Garand forum in the Military firearms forums here and see what anyone comes up with ..

I'll trade you a brick of .22's for it..

Paper...It's a good hour ride to the nearest range now and gas being what it is makes it too expensive to drive my gas hog that far. I used to belong to Daniel Boone and shoot there , Racine County Line and before it was closed, Hartland. I really miss not shooting but life must go on. I already have posted this on the Garand site but they said to come here. I cant believe I cant find a price for a Garand in my configuration ANYWHERE on the web. I've looked everywhere I could think of, nothing but stock Garands for sale. I'm thinking its worth somewhere between $1500 and $2000. If I cant sell it I'm just going to have to cook up some hunting loads for it. Today I almost bought a Browning X-Bolt in 300 WSM. Still thinking about it, But I actually went down to buy a 308 X-Bolt and just got mystified by the WSM.

I'd guess your best bet would be to take a ton of photos, and explain everything you've got into the gun, and toss it on Gunbroker.

Set a reserve that you'll be comfortable with, and see what it'll do..

Casey, you can list it on GunBroker.com Online Gun Auction if you seriously decide to sell it?

If you are looking at trading it for an AR, the only AR I'd trade it for if I were you or it were me would be a true Colt Ar. They can be had for about $1500 and up. So if that's what you're willing to let yours go for, you might look into a Colt AR?

You said Racine county. There ia a range located on hwy. 11 just East of Union Grove Raceway. It is/has only a 100yd, riflew rang, but it is somewhere to shoot it. I mean, this range also have 25yd. and 50yd. ranges, but as far as rifle goes, 100yd. is the longest.

But I believe Paper is correct, there has to be others in Wisconsin and at least one with at least a 300yd. range?

I, and I'm sure others would also love to see some pictures of your M1. So if you have the ability and would post a few, we'd love to see it.

Oh and by the way, maybe go to GunBroker.com Online Gun Auction and do a search for Colt Ar-15's and maybe see what comes up? Then if anything, see what the seller wants. If any are interested in a trade, contact them and see?

Good luck.

By the way, welcome to G&G...(That is if I missed you in the introduction forum?)

Barrel

Yes the barrel is a heavy stainless match barrel from Krieger Barrels. Everything you see is stock configuration but the hidden part of the barrel is about an inch in diameter. The sights are 1/4 minute adjustable, double the amount of serrations on the knob and to achieve 1/4 minute adjustment you turn the rear sight aperature 180 degrees ( its off center).

Caliber

I told them either 7mm-08 or 308 because I have ammo and components for reloading either caliber already. Whichever comes in first.
