Thanks guys, great rifles. I've got to save up some here and hope that maybe CMP will get in stock some 03A3s I've been interested in one of those for a long time now. Finally got my Garand from CMP, and I'd love to pick up a Springfield. I have seen some $500 ones at some gun shows, but I don't know enough about them to know what they are, and if they are worth $500.

CMP Field Grade HRA made it to my house today, along with a little brother Winchester Rack Grade Carbine. I bought both last week at the South Store and had them shipped to my house this week.

Just because, shot of still unopend boxes.

HRA Garand

And the Winnie, just because

The HRA is all HRA except for the Op Rod, Bolt, and since the stock's got a SA mark on it, I'm guessing it's also not HRA? The stock also has RA marked near the SA, along with the P on the bottom, and between the pistol grip and the but there's an X stamped in it. The stocks also stamped with a 4 digit number on one side.

When I gauged the rifle at CMP with their gauges, I got just under 2 on TE and a 1.5 on ME. My CMP ME gauge hasn't been in nearly as many rifles as the one I used down there, and actually gauges .75.. Pretty good for a Field Grade rifle that should gauge around 3.

The stock's already stripped and I'll start sanding on that in the next couple days.. Several bullet points on the stock from someone tampign an enbloc, but it just adds character. A light sanding to remove the high spots and clean up the scars a touch, and I'll dig out the BLO.

The Carbine has a Winchester barrel and actually gauges below .5, so I'm looking forward to shooting it. Inland stock and trigger. Just might become my new CMP match rifle after I refinish the stock on it, too.

Just happened to be at the right place at the right time. Had some overtime money tucked away, and a job last week only a couple hours from the South Store.. Sometimes things do come together..

Congrats, Paper! Maybe we should gather for a shoot. I still have not shot my CMP Garand or Carbine. Although, my carbine measure just under 2 ME. My Garand measures a generous one.

Here is my M1 Garand. I just purchased it from a private collector and I do not know alot about it. It has a serial in the 2 mil range so I do not know where that dates it. He thought the barrel was a replacement It is marked 9SA6 45. The trigger was repaired at sometime because it has a Winchester floorplate but all of the other trigger componets are marked SA so I am assuming the whole trigger was not replaced. The rifleing in the barrel is like new which is the main reason I purchased it. I have not shot it yet but I am hoping to go to the range next week. I also got about 300 rounds with it. Most of them on clips to and three bandoliers. The only other thing that was defintly replaced is the rear sight hood. It is finished in a blue and not green like the rest of the rifle. Really looking foward to shooting it soon!

Michael

There are lots of YT vids out there that are pretty good. Had a little tutorial as I disassembled my Garand for the first time. No biggy now.

Hondo/Gunrockets

I only have one: M1C SNIPER RIFLE

YEAR MADE: NOVEMBER 1944
>SERIAL NUMBER: 3344953
>M84 SCOPE SERIAL NUMBER: 28570
>MARKING ON STOCK ABOVE TRIGGER: SA NFR MARKING ON
>STOCK AROUND GRIP AREA: A "P" enclosed in a circle.

This is one great rifle. It will shoot 1/2 " groups all day @ 100 yds. either with the scope or without.

Mines a CMP Danish Garand, I've had it maybe 6 years. Its originally a Springfield, built in late 1943 as I recall. It has been rebuilt at least once, as it has very few, if any, parts original to the reciever, but its a pretty decent shooter. The only thing kind of unique is it still has a label on the inside of the stock written in Danish with some sight in distances on it.

My Mini-G

I'm completely giddy over this rifle! Where has this thing been all my life? Lighter, handier & just as accurate as a full size Garand. Velocity is better than I thought it would be with a 16" barrel. Recoil feels the same but muzzle flash can be huge! I'm putting a Smith Enterprises brake on it. They're supposed to tame the savage beast very well.
