Nice to have until I get a real one, same with the Griffin & Howe Mounts , when I find an original set I can afford I will buy it. |
Fulton Armory has a setup for a M1C using griffin & howe mounts. but im not sure if you can buy them separately. something to look into though.

Yea, I know, its so bad. But at the same time, its so good. I can guarantee at some point down the road, I will get another one, but I can't guarantee when. It will happen. Does anyone know where one might find a laminated stock for a Garand?

Bought my M1 for ZAR 1000 - 00 about $100 US.
Came with 500 rounds and old weaver scope .
The M1D still had makers grease on.

Korean era Springfield. Picked it up in Fairbanks AK back in '94 for $550 while I was in the army. Good rifle.

Looks like 124 is the count. Unless we get an official count on Sean's collection, I just counted 70. Its hard for me to count so many beauties, if anyone else feels inclined to redo my math, its ok Keep the posts coming, theres got to be more people than this out there who own Garands on G&G!!
Also if anyone has any Mosin Nagant rifles, there is a similar roll call thread in the Mosin Nagant thread.

Got this sweet rifle at the end of 2008. Cleaned her up, haven't had time to shoot her yet.

Only have one, a 1943 Springfield with a new aftermarket barrel the PO put on. Shoots great! Have no photos at the moment, need to take some.

I will get all the serial numbers for mine and post with a picture. So far, I'd say Wayne's and the birch stock are the purtiest, although I am sure that there are contenders in the 70 from Michigan. And the one from South Africa looks very nice. My other membership qualification for roll call - i am in the throes of co-writing an awesome historical novel, and my writing partner, my ex girlfriend, is the direct descendant of the two men who owned Presmet, a steel fabricating company from Worcester Mass, that as far as I understand, helped to develop, and then produced, an improved rear sight for the Garand for world war two. The two brothers were named Harry and Butch Boorky, and their lives, their families, and their father's escape from Tsarist Russia is a good portion of the book. Any knowledge about the sight change? I would like confirmation that this change was to the Garand, and not the Springfield, or the .30 caliber M1, as my research is still plugging along. Harry, in his memoirs, speaks about looking at the original rear sight of an infantry rifle and telling the armoury that he could improve it, and I am, at this juncture, reasonably sure that this was the Garand and not a later version of the Springfield. Any knowledge, imput, or corrections is always welcome.

I have a couple of SA 3.3 and a 3.5 million range, going to test out the VAR barrel on the winchester as soon as it warms up, heard that VAR barrel have an excellent reputation, and contend with national match barrels.
