i have only done it once though. i think you only have to worry about loosing parts that might fly away or even smack you in the face/eye.

| taking the bolt apart
When I was an armorer, I always used the M10 tool and a section of the rod (which screws into the M10 tool) You take the bolt apart by inserting the M10 tool into the chamber and slowly closing the bolt face against the M10, you will feel it snap-in, then you turn the rod and the extractor will come-up and you can pull it out with your fingers. Pull the bolt back a little and pull out the ejector and spring. You can then take the rifle apart. To put everything back together after cleaning, line everything up with the M10 tool back in the chamber, as you turn the rod on the M10 tool, push down on the extractor, sometimes you might need a small screwdriver blade to keep the extractor spring in place as you snap it in. The op rod spring keeps the M10 tool against the bolt while taking it apart or back together |

is it a bad thing if i use the punch that came in my AK cleaning kit to tear down my M1 bolt.... i mean ive heard that they stole the piston and lug system from the M1 for the AK, so its to bad right? |
