Talking CMP M1 Garand is "processing".

Well the CMP contacted me yesterday to let me know my Springfield M1 Garand is now being removed off backorder and is now "processing". Well what they "hey" has it been doing since Jan.'09? LOL!!!

Anyways, long story short, I'm going on an out-of-state vacation with my family July 5-10th so I asked them to hold the shipping date until I get back.

All this time I have been waiting for this my 1st M1 Garand, and I knew it would come down to the very time I go on vacation to arrive!! GRRR!!!
I might actually be scared to "pull the trigger" to 1st time I go to the range after all the chaos this little rifle has shown me.

Man I'm already ready to get back home to TX to strip & clean an M1 and I haven't even left for this vacation yet.....

Eager Beaver,
Jon in TX.

Congrats. Maybe you should just stay home, and you'd get it sooner

Just curious, how can/did you ask them to delay shipment? I am very interested in one, but not sure about my address situation in 6 months. If I order now, I'm wondering if I can change the address before they ship. They're terrible at answering emails, I've asked twice now.

I can tell you this, currently,, they're processing March 26 or 27th orders. So odds are, if you place an order today, they won't even begin to get to today's date until 3 months from now if not longer. Figure about 3 months on average. If I were you, I'd place an order. Unless you have a C&R, you'll have to have it sent to an FFL and they can hold it. Unless of course you're moving a ways away from where you are now?

Order one, you can always make changes until it ships I'd think. The only concern would be the ship to being different then the billing address if you use a credit card? But that can be easily explained.

You can easily change your shipping address online. CMP is allowed to ship rifles directly to you even if you are not an ffl or c&r holder. Just go to the estore online and change your address there. Plus, even if the order shows processing it may be a week or two before it ships.

Right now the wait time for rifles is 120 days. Could be even more depending on backorder status. Ammo mail order is 180 days.

Thank you! Yes, I have a C&R, which I'd use for the shooting involvement requirement. Then I need to join GCA, either now or after September.

GCA renewals went out last month. I bet if you asked them they could make you active with Sept. 1st active date. But, if you choose to wait another month that would work as well. They send a faxed list of active members to the CMP every week. So it doesn't take long for the CMP to know you are a member.

If you want a carbine better get your order in,posted as sold out on Inland SG,they were the cheapest SG one. They will be sold out sooner rather than later by some of the Ask Orest postings. Good hit on the WW2 serial number.

From some of the postings on the Austrian carbines I would almost want to pick one out at the store.A lot of the Austrian ones had been blued and some of the parts came out copper colored and some of the markings were almost buffed away.Depends on the pricing.

I've already received my Inland M1 Carbine from the CMP, and it was ordered a month after the M1 Garand I'm about to get...
