They are out of Service Grades at the Stores, they would have to be mail ordered. Field Grades are available and if you can handpick are definatly worth looking at. Yes you can fill out paperwork at the Store, pick out rifle and take it home. |

Man, if I lived anywhere east of the Mississippi, I'd drive there and get it in person! And a buncha ammo too. Waiting just sucks.

Not sure if you're even remotely interested, but my HRA arrived with SA bolt and opp rod.. I'd be more than happy to swap the two parts with you to make both of our rifles closer to correct.. Just a thought.. ![]()

If you swap bolts you need to check headspace.

| I was informed by an old time gunsmith that that could be done with an unfired round and masking tape. It should close on one pc. of masking tap that covers the base of the round to be correct. Closing on 2 thicknesses of tape is at the end of the go, and closing on 3 thicknesses is a no-go.. Safety in the ON position, of course.. Seems crude, but this man's been working on these and most rifles for longer than I've been on this earth.. And I'm 44..

| As I said, it's crude, but it's how he was taught by his Marine Armorer.

Better safe than sorry. All it takes is one bad day...... What do you do if the head space isn't correct? Is there an easy way to change the head spacing?

Don't kill the messenger.. And I completely trust the person who told me.. He just said it was a quick and easy way to check if you don't have gauges, and he had never found it to be incorrect..

While I prefer Clymer, if money is tight Midway USA has Foster gauges for less than $22.00 each. If you have a curio relics license you can get dealers discount for around $16.00 each
