From what I've read SS makes great stuff, alot of people use them on both AR's and M1A's.

I'm going to put one on my 308 soon. I have yet to hear any bad reports about them. If anyone had one then they were soon resolved and are happy owners now. Rated for a BMG and NATO contract.... all at an awesome price too.

I have not seen a scope mounted on an M1A/M14, that was a satisfactory application, except for ones mounted on the barrel ahead of the receiver (Springfield Armory sells an M1A Bush rifle, or an M1A Scout rifle that has a rail mounted on the barrel). I see M1A/M14's at our range almost daily, the the owners are dissatisfied with the scope/rifle combination. They usually pull the scope off and are amazed at how well it shoots without the scope (that is how it was designed to be shot). The built in mounting system on M1A/M14's puts the scope above and to the left of the centerline of the bore, making sighting in a real chore, because the M1A/M14 has to be sighted in at many different distances, and the data for each distance recorded. For instance, sighted in at 100 yards will cause a bullet strike to be at least 4 inches high and to the left at 200 yards. The further you go out the further your hits are from where you want them, not a good thing if your distance estimating is off. ` Last edited by Gyrene; 09-09-2006 at 11:29 PM.

![]() It's pretty easy to scope an M14 type rifle these days... The problems of the past have been left in the past. ![]() ![]() ![]() I prefer Scout scopes and red dots out on the front rail, but if you want traditional magnified optics on your M14 type rifle it can be done easily.
