Thanks for the info. No, Battlerifle, I don't know what JPE stands for. I'm afraid I might have bought a pig in a poke, but we'll see when it arrives. It has a Colt 1911 slide, skeletonized trigger & hammer, and a beavertail safety, so some gunsmith must have worked it over. I don't really care about it's value to a collector as long as it is a good shooter. If I'm lucky, nothing will break until I don't need it anymore.

the way i hear it, some of the earlier JPE/brolin frames were made by Essex. so you might be lucky and have a decent frame.

JPE stands for Jay's Pacific enterprises. u will see JPE on many Mak90's and SKS's.. he was one of the major importers.

I don't think I got lucky. Got the gun --- has a Colt Mark IV series 70 slide which seems OK except the extractor doesn't work --- pulls rounds out of chamber but doesn't throw them out. Also the fit between the frame & slide is very sloppy --- good hand pressure can rock the slide from side to side on the frame more than any of my other 45's. I'm sure the slide is from Brolin, as the first two letters in the serial # are BA. I'm going to try to get the guy who sold it to me (over the internet, of course) to take it back & refund my money, but who knows if that'll fly? Any suggestions in case I have to try to fix it up, or does it sound like a lost cause??? Thanks for any advice from anyone.
