How Cool is This?

Wednesday, my friend Bob and I went to Caspian Arms. We stopped at our local shop and asked for a copy of his FFL and went to Caspian looking for a Stainless Steel reciever for a Commander. We got the whole tour, saw pictures of George Bush's Caspian and some other famous Caspians. I selected a Stainless Steel reciever and they said they would cut it down to Commander size, "Do you have a special Serial number in mind?" I could take it with me or wait for a special serial number, anything up to 11 charactors with at least one numeral. I decided on a serial number and they wrote the work order. How cool is that?

Actually, I went with the same number I have on my Colt Combat Commander .45. I'm going to have "Otter" "U.S.C.G." ingraved on the slide when it comes time to order that. Right now all I have is the bare receiver.

You are very lucky to live in a State like Vermont with no gun laws. It is spelled CASPIAN ARMS. I have been working with them for 20 years and love what they do.

Still waiting for the barrel from Bar-Sto Precision Machine, they told me eight weeks, it's been nine, if I don't get it soon I'll send the slide back to Caspian and build a .45.

What caliber is this wondergun going to be, Otter? Are you building a 9mm? I have been through the factory at 29 Palms and I had the grand tour from Irv Jr. many years ago. I still use Fred Kart for barrels. I liked Barbara and Irv Sr. was alive at that time but not doing much work.

I tink the barrel for my Caspian arrived, the YL told me a package arrived and she left it in her car. Maybe tomorrow I'll finish building it.

Otter-

I have a buddy that is building a .45 ACP 1911 with a damascus slide and hammer from Caspian. Slide was $700.00 wholesale. Should be beautiful though. He said customer service has been great and I'm sure he would have loved to tour the facility.

Monday the 23rd. will be 16 weeks since I ordered a barrel from Bar-stow Presision Machine in Twenty-Nine Palms California, I'm about ready to call and tell them to shove the barrel where the sun doesn't shine and build the Caspian in .45. I'll have to order a new slide at another $267.00. I was told the barrel would take 8 weeks and at 10 weeks I was told "Next Week." My next choice would be to get a 1911 barrel and cut it down. I hope someone from Bar-Stow is a member here and reads this and finds out how pissed off I am with them. Anyone want a Colt style Caspain Stainless Steel Combat Commander Slide that can be built in 9mm? Can't find a barrel in .38 Super. I also have 4 nichol plated 1911 magazines for .38 Super with 150 rounds of 130 gr. ball. I'm mad enough to throw it all in the trash.

Otter: Call this Number.910-754-5212 and talk to either Fred Kart or Conrad. Tellt them I sent you and you want a .38 Super EZ Fit Commander Barrel. If and when the Barstow barrel arrives, return it for credit. You will have that Kart barrel soon and can go on with your grand adventure. If you need help getting it in, Give me a call. My information is on any of my three web sites.
