| Moderator ![]() | "There can be only one . . ." COLT! My M1991A1 has NEVER let me down, excepting bad ammo.

| Senior Member ![]() | Personaly I'm not interested in the 1911 style pistols, though I voted for the Kimber. Reason being on what others say about them. I agree with Moss500Bantam that the Sprinfield is a close 2nd. I like semi-auto pistols that don't have all the levers on them such as Glocks and that will hold more ammo. A.H |

| Member | i have a colt commander,a tank officer,a 1991 compact,& an army national match.i also own a kimber custom 2.i have also shot a kimber carry with a 3 in.barrel.any one of these pistols will shoot better than you can.you can't go wrong with colt or kimber.do yourself a favor & dont try to buy a 1911 on the cheap;spend the money, you won't be sorry.p.s. the sights on the colt & kimber shoot to a different point of aim;know your pistol & where it hits at different yardages. |

| Senior Member | Yeah, if you like to pay a nice premium just for the name. I went with Springfield just for the price. I got a solid shooter with no problems right out of the box. So I should pay 3-400 dollars more just because it says "Colt"? Last edited by gandog56; 05-13-2007 at 10:53 AM. |

| Senior Member | Suppose I should've read the poll before I answered it. I answered other because I thought it was asking what you "had" not "wanted". My .45 is a Colt manufactured Model 1927 Argentine. So, technically it is a Colt, its not a M1911. |

| Moderator ![]() | What 'premium'? I paid $500 NEW for mine. Seen too many SA's that won't group without a lot of work.

| Senior Member | I bought a Rock Island 1911 45 ACP just before Christmas of 2006. I gave $335.00 for it, it came with black plactic case. I have been shooting MagTech 230 gr. ball cartridges through it with no jams or problems of any kind. The sight leave a little to be desired, but for a 52 year old half blind person, I still shoot 10" circle at 25 yards. I paid $22.00 for Kimber 8 shot clips, no problems. For the money, it's here to stay. My son bought one also, it's not going anywhere either. |
