gi model 1911 from S.A.

a question on brass, why does the brass have a flat side on it when it ejects.
what part of the receiver is doing that, although not a extraction issue, i would like tto know if any one has heard of that,
just asking!!

The brass should be marking the place where it's striking your slide.
