Indeed. Just how did this chucklehead come by his "nice throwaway" before selling it to you?

haha yea we told them we where going to regester it right after we bought the gun. He said yea thats fine..We regestered it, it was fine..Just beware Colt uses the same serial codes for example...For each series they use the same serial numbers so the one we got they typed in the serial number and it came up hot but it was a model 70 not an 80.. And the guy needed money so he wanted to sell it for what ever he could get, the gun is very nice but i prefer my dads tanfolio witness 9mm. the colt .45, i just cant realy hit anything with it

If the Colt is in like new condition, you could easily more than double your money.
I have handled a lot of pistols that outshoot my Colt M1991A1, but I still love the Colt - it's never let me down, and shoots more than adquately for a service pistol.

More like quadruple around these parts. You can't touch a real Colt 1911 for less than $800 in nice condition in California anyway.

The serials numbers between a series 70 and a series 80 are NOT the same. My series 70 starts with a 70G45XXX. Yours should start with a 80!

I agree with ACfixer up here in WA a nice Colt 1911 style gun isn't cheap. I have shot a Natl. Match Gold Cup Colt that my great uncle bought in like 1963 or something. Thats a really nice gun, and fun to shoot. Its in great shape too. A real fun gun. Probably worth more than $800.
