Other than some hoots and holling, seen nothing that says it isn't so. The US Army knew of and cautioned against using your index finger to aim with and the middle finger to shoot with. It could result in depressing the slide stop pin when firing and jam the gun. That was way back in 1912. To bad they couldn't make a small fix in the slide stop to give those who go in harms way, another shooting option to use (which was know of since 1835), in close combat to help them survive. Way to look out for the troops. Want to really get upset, check out the new thread I am starting: Has your handgun training set you up to be killed? Sort of like throwing rocks at a hornets nest. Hey, but what is, is what is. |

Yeah personally I have never liked the 1911 because of the fact that you can't point at the people while you shoot them AND the fact that it doesn't have a bayonet lug. And, of course, who would want the 1911's wimpy .45 cartrige when you could get something in .32 or .25 ACP?

That type of velocity makes me wanna laugh so hard. It's amazing it can even kill anything. I've shot pellet rifles with higher velocity | |

It is learning eye and hand coordination and being able to repeat it. I taught point shooting in my armed self defense class with VERY good results. I suggest it be used from the 'bent' arm position out to 5 yds (15 ft).

This sounds about a goofy as the hollywood types that have decided to hold a pistol sideways. Maybe it looks cool to someone who doesn't know any better, but there's a reason that the sights are on the TOP of the barrel. Call me a square, but I'd rather look uncool and walk away than be hip and get carried out. |

This is hysterical!! a quick story. I took a kid from baltimore city shooting once. He had never shot a pistol in his life, and yet couldn't hit anything from 10 ft. away, even a 2 liter bottle. but when he turned in on it's side like shown above and commonly shown in gangster movies, he hit almost everything. It was a phenomenon that I have never seen the like. As far as a design problem with the 1911, or any other pistol, is ludicrous. Point shooting, or instinct shooting, is only good when you are startled and can't use your sights. by the time a person is only 10 ft. away you might as well unload in his general direction. I think I would hit at least 5 of 8 at that distance.
