| Registered User | Help to put 45 together How do you place the large spring into the frame of the 1911 45 pistol ? I got the spring in, but the trigger will not stay cocked when it is pulled back. Any help would be appreciated. |

| Senior Member | im thinking your talking about the sear spring(the 3 leaf flat spring) wit the mainspring housing out youll notice a small notch at the bottom of the grip frame-there is a corresponding tab on the sear spring that goes in the notch, place the spring in the notch hold it there and look where the 3 leafs are one should be touching the back lower portion of the sear, one touches the trigger and one is for the grip safety- keeep holding the spring to the frame while you start the mainspring housing up into the frame-make sure the hammer strut is centered in the plunger of the mainspring housing, slide it all the way up and put the mainspriing housing pin in. as long as the spring is exerting pressure on the back of the sear you should have no more problems. |
