Contact Dave at Little Bear Holsters. He makes custom leather for a LOT less than others. Top quality, great guy to work with. http://littlebearholsters.com. I never got used to the nuances of the BH Serpa or the Blade-Tech or any other plastic holster. Personal preference probably. Uncle Mike's makes decent nylons, but they just don't hold up over time and I've never had any luck with Mike's in a rain storm! I have two 1911's and use two holsters from littlebearholsters.com and a DeSantis Speed Scabbard - all leather, 2 are OWB and one is IWB. Last edited by sniper1958; 09-07-2009 at 10:32 AM. So I took apart (first time...wow what a mental & and finger workout) and after I wiped it down fairly good I sprayed a slim amount of rem oil on the slide and lugs and re-assembled it which took me a few minutes with the barrel bushing but I got it back together. For future reference how should I lube the gun and what should I use to lube it?

For lubrication, I like to oil the slide rails on the frame, and the slide itself. Pretty much, make sure to oil all moving parts, where metal rubs metal.

| Pearl is trim and I like the rail attachment system she has. My duo-tone does not have that option. You did good on her. I think SLICK is the word I would have used Last edited by LakerDad; 09-12-2009 at 09:10 PM. |

I've got a stainless PT1911, absolutely no problems and I love it.

Yeah, I had just finished reassembling it and forgot to either drop the hammer or put the safety on. It wasn't loaded, and I keep ammo far away from the tool room. And even then I still treat them like they're loaded

Got one 2 weeks ago, gotta be one of the most accurate handguns I've ever had. took it to the range this morning with my carry gun (pt 709 slim) and put about 80 rounds through both. I also picked up a Chip McCormick 10 round Magazine for it a couple of days ago. works great and dont look to bad either.

lets see some pics ???? They are fairly accurate aren't they ?It took me three shots to figure out the trigger then i tore up the center of the target !LOL!!! See the other thread in 1911s and you'll see the target. The ones out of center is from rapid firing>LOL!!!!!!!!

I got the Taurus 1911 Stainless last week and ran 300 rounds through it yesterday without a a hiccup. I didn't get 2" groups but then didn't expect to with 58 yr old eyes and glasses, fortunately I've been shooting long enough to know how to make up for my deficiencies. The gun shot as well as any 1911 I've shot before. It did more than I expected at 5,7,10,15 and 25 yards, everything in the head or chest which is what I wanted. I have read that the ambi-safety is a weak point prone to breakage down the line so I swapped it out for an STI left hand safety that works fine. When I took out the factory ambi-safety, the joint between the left and right halves did look weak and could have been of better design methinks. The rest of the pistol is great, especially the Novak sights that came on it and the Pachmayr grips I put on. Anyone looking for an "affordable" 1911 with all the bells and whistles should look at the Taurus. |
