| Senior Member | SKS Detachable Is there a single detachable mag out there that is reliable and needs no fitting? I don't want to go full Bubba, keep my wood stock, and want a higher capacity mag then the stock 10 rounds. I have heard some people say no, others that say theirs has always worked fine. Brands and sources would be appreciated. Oh yeah, It's a Yugo M59/66. |

| Senior Member | I have two Tapco 20 rounders and neither one of them has had a problem through about 2000 rounds going through them. I also have an ATI Fiberforce stock, and they work great together.

| Senior Member | If you buy an SKS and then a replacement stock then extra mags aren't you close to the price of an AK? I would like an SKS Paratrooper, the one that uses AK mags.

| Senior Member | Some people have been able to get the tapco to fit in a wooden stock without modifying it. I don't know for myself because I've never owned an original stock. I do know that the tapcos are very reliable. Also, my 30rd steel mags are reliable. However, I seemed to have lucked out on them. Most won't work well without fitting them with pliers and a little filing.

Very true. I have probably $350-$400 invested in mine, not including Ammo. But, if I would have bought a $400 AK I would have had to spend another couple hundred to make it how I wanted it. And when you think about it, with all the money spent on ammo on our guns, we may as well just stop shooting and save up for a tank or jet... ![]()

| Senior Member | well, pretty much every mag is going to fit every gun differently. People have had great success with tapco's others haven't. I use some thing i bought at a gun show for ten bucks and I have never had to do and filing for it to fit. It cycles the rounds well, but only loads 20 in a 30rd mag because after 20 the spring gets caught on something. |

| Senior Member | You will have to send it back of course... . But I'd be more than happy to loan one to you so you can see that at least one works the way its supposed to. Or I have a video of me shooting my SKS rapid fire, one round didn't eject properly but that wasn't the mags problem, it had had about 1,000 rounds of Wolf HP already fired through it that day and was dirty...I'll try to find it.
