Dropped by the local dealer today and had him place an order for me on one of those SOG specials this month. How do the Bulgarian makarovs compare to the russian.

Hmmm, I heard that the East German Maks were the best overall...guess it just depends on which version you own. I have one (EG) and haven't seen any offered anywhere in ages but at the time I was buying Bulgarians, Russians and East Germans were available and I was advised to get an EG.

Hello. Both the Bulgarian and the EG have proven fantastic shooters. I'm not a Makarov guru and have extensive shooting experience with but my own two, a Bulgarian and an EG. The latter has a bit smoother trigger pull and better finish, but both are reliable and equivalent accuracy-wise so far as I can tell.
