I thought I'd share some pics of my pistols chambered in the 9X18 ctg. The last three are not Makarov pistols but they are pistols chambered in the 9X18 Makarov calibre.

But, where's the East German Mak? LOL

I only have one Mak and it's the German version.

And, what is with the reddish colored decocker I see on yours and others' Russian Maks? To me it looks intential but could it also be discoloration over time for whatever reason?

I looked at the post again a see that I forgot to post the East German Pistole M.!! As far as the plumb coloring on the safety/decocker it is my understanding that the part is a casting due to the high content of silicon in steel used for the casting it finishes with a plumb hue. This is true on the Chicom and both the Russian Military as well as the Russian Commercial IJ-70.

Have you fired it???
If so, then how does it shoot??

Mine remains unfired in it's original box and wax paper!!!

The Chicom Mak was the first Makarov that I bought. The fit and finish on the Type 59 is better than on my Bulgarian and much better than the commercial Maks. This particular Type 59 has the ZZ prefix to the serial number. I have shot it and it shoots as good as any Makarov should. I haven't shot it lately as these are becoming quite collectible.

The ZZ prefix means that it was made for "export", usually to some revolutionary group somewhere!!
Mine has the same!!

My first Pistolet Makarova was my IJ70-17A. In fact, it has the distinction of being the only weapon I have ever drawn in order to protect my family.
