| I finnished up gradeing My Bulgie
I put EG grips on it and AO Express sights [Big dot] I was dissappointed that the Makarov rear express sight does not have a tritum in the verticle bar The other Tritum AO Express sights that I have installed on my other pistols had a rear tritum verticle bar. Has anybody installed these sights with the same situation? I also gold plated the triger and finger rest magazine floor plate. It looks good. When I showed it to my wife that had stole [adopted] my other Mak She said "Jimmy cracked corn, and you know how I feel" Then with a hair flip and a stomp she turned and left the room. I could tell she was, miffed that I had a prettier pistol than her, Or she wouldnt have commented at all. he. he. I gotta take my victorys no matter how small.

That is all very well and good. I bet the upgrades cost you more than the pistol itself!! That is why I have opted to keep all my makarovs stock, save one, upon which I have installed Pierce grips. I am a collector, so I do not carry Pistolet Makarova very much. Anybody know how I can get in touch with Fidel Castro??? I want him to will me his Makarov when he kicks the bucket!!! :insane:

Well I havent had very nice guns for most of my life so haveing a "Fancy" carry piece is kinda nice for once. And as far as the cost goes I gotta say that yes I have spent Tooo much on pertyfying my Mak I have done the same thing with a CZ 52 also I have done it because I LIKE to. Thats the only reason and that is reason enough. You have to ask your self what is the pistol Really worth? To you? Just because you can get Bulgies now for a buck and a half doesnt really mean anything I remember when Chicom PM's went for $89.95 And nobody wanted them. So whats a ultra accurate, reliable, small, steel, carryable handgun worth? To you ? Hey, have fun with it, that's what God put us here for

Yeah Den, I suppose you're right. As a collector of the Makarov, I have a different mind set. For example, my new in box Norinco Makarov is still in the box, unfired, and it will remain so!!!

Den foote I had one for 3 years and sold it to pay the phone bill one month.[back when Reagan was president] I think I got a whole hunnerd bucks fer it. I remember when SKS's where 69.95 on sale I still have my Chicom Tokarev that I paid $89.00 for it new in the box about 16 years ago, I have about worn out the barrel on it. It still groups at about 2" at 15 yards Incredible. The range report on the Bulgie is exellent Perrrrrrrrrrrrfect! Ya gotta get one of these guys.

I own a cherry 1961 East German Makarov and like several of you who posted....I added a Pierce grip but have otherwise left it all original. Im happy with how it performs, as-is. I have however "gussied-up" other guns I own....mostly my Romanian AK47 so I understand the desire to customize or improve my favorite guns. DocCombat........tell me more about your makarov encounters in Kosovo! I had no idea that they were being issued or used there. The offer of the leather holsters is very kind of you. I already have one from East Germany that came with my Mak but your offer is very nice all the same! I actually dont use my leather holster despite being in mint condition though due to prolonged storage and the rust issue. My Makarov currently lives very happily in a mint condition East German Rain-Camo holster which is both more comfy to use AND has no rusting related problems. |

I have a Hungarian PA-63 it is not a true Mak. but it is in the 9x18 caliber. I bought it used and all of it's flaws add to it's charm. The trigger is a littel heavy for such a small gun.

The Pa63's are almost pure walther PP clones it is possible to hone the sear/hammer to help the trigger pull the aluminum frame is not very durable keep your eye on it. With a little gunsmithing a pa 63 should give you good service If it is working good now then just enjoy it. but if you can afford it, get a true Makarov they are the AK47 of pistols. and will last ,...... well we dont now how long because no one has worn one out yet . may be if someone sat down with a truck load of bullets and a coupla guys loading magazines....... Interesting idea.................. man my finger would get tired ............... IMHO (I guess I am a little Biased) |

Does a true "Makarov" have the contured pistol grip like the PA-63, when I got my PA-63 that is the one feature that sold me on the gun it is so comfortable in my hand. Can you get new Makarovs, I would like to get one. There was another website I came across in my travels that mentioned replacing a certin spring in the PA-63 to make it smoother. Nothing broken yet so I don't plan on changing a thing any time soon. The alumineum fraim does make it hard on the palm when firing in rapid fire. It is still a sweet gun, for the price, pluss a littel more kick than a .380 Auto. |

Have you been snake bit yet by the slide? I like my PA-63. I put custom grips on it made by a member of this site. Yes there are spring kits that will enhance the trigger tremendously. Mine is still stock.

What do you mean "snake bit" is this a common malfunction? Should I be looking out for it. I had never heard of any malfunctions like that on the PA-63.
