Again guys, thanks for your comments. I will ordering my XS7 tomorrow. Found the best local deal yesterday, but it was at their closing time so gonna go back tomorrow and lay some money down. Now, to save up for some good glass. I've got a few scopes that will be good enough to break it in. One more question, what kind of break in procedure do these have?
Spend $300 on the rifle, and $3000 on the glass. you won't be sorry you did!

Opticsplanet have some good deals on scopes. I am looking into having a redfield revenge or Nikon prostaff scope imported into NZ from there as the guys sell alot of scopes to people in New Zealand as long as they are not tactical scopes which need permits to get them out of the USA. Also good choice in choosing the marlin XS7 I have one in stainless chambered in 7mm08 shoots nice groups with Privi Partizan 120gr Hollow point and even better with federal blue box 150gr

i have a xs7 in .308, one of the best out of the box shooters ive ever bought, put a decent scope on top, took 4 deer last season with it!
I have to agree with you on that my XS7 stainless 7mm08 is the first accurate out of the box rifle I have ever owned. My boss and his son just bought their first centerfires last week one got the XL7 stainless in .270 and the son got a ruger M77 hawkeye stainless synthetic also in .270 I was asked to sight them both in for them and teach them what they need to do if they ever have to resight the scopes and I have to admit the marlin in .270 is one heck of a nice rifle to shoot recoil is barely noticeable and felt no different to my 7mm08, the ruger kicked a little harder due to the lighter weight than what the marlin is but still that was nice to shoot and that comment comes from someone who grew to hate the .270 after getting a real good kicking from one but it was down to a rifle that did not suit me when I had my first and only .270, I can see a marlin XL7 in .270 joining my 7mm08 in the cupboard in the near future.
when i bought mine a few years back i actually was trying to find a rem 700, but those are @#$% expensive comparatively, and this marlin had just came out, i like to think it was meant to be
I have a XS7 in .308 with a Burris FFII scope on it. With sling and all, I have less than $450 in it. I really like the gun for whitetail hunting. I shot a 6 point buck last year, and then my son shot a 6 point with it the day after Thanksgiving. My son has claimed it as his now, so I may have to invest in another one. We have since moved to AK, so I don't know how much use it will actually get here. I bought a new Rem. 700 in .300 Win Mag at the first of the month. I am sure once the miltiary sends us back to the lower 48 and we are hunting deer again, it will get more use.
Bought mine on gun broker shipped to my FFL in 7mm08 stainless action black stock for $415.00 I put a Nikon Prostaff 3x9x40 scope with Luepold rings and have about $615.00 in it . I love the gun its light smooth bolt nice adjustable trigger i am happy with the 7mm08 caliber {necked down 308} it has very good ballistics and prettylight recoil.
