First off do you want a new one or a used one? I have seen them used and still a good shooter from 125.00 to 150.00 and that was at a pawn/gun shop. I have one on layaway at my local pawn/gun shop for 100.00 out the door. It's rough but with a little bit of fine tuning and clean up it is going to be a good little rifle. It all depends on what you are looking for.

I have a model 99 .22lr in "good" condition anybody know what those are going for these days. oh yeah, its semi-auto, tublar mag 18 shot, walnut stock, 100% original, gold trigger, from 1959. I am 3rd generation to own it and just recently passed it on to my 8 yr old son. So he will obviously be 4th gen. Not looking to sell just wondering what your opinions are. Thanks guys- Hope i havent hi jacked your thread.

99C was made from 1962-1978
worth around $150, give or take dependant on condition...

If its pre-1968, it'll have a two letter code on the left under side of the barrel,
usually near/under the forearm...and NOT the JM in a circle, as that's a proofmark...
If its after 1968, it'll have a serial number on the left side of the receiver in plain view...
69-72 are actual dates
73-78 will have reverse code dates, meaning the two first numbers minus 100 give you the year...
27=73
26=74
25=75
24=76
23=77
22=78

Hope that helps...took me a half-year before I was good at Marlin codes...
I carry a cheat sheet for the two-letter barrel codes in my wallet

No serial numbers on this one, do i need to disassemble the barrel from the stock, as there are NO other markings on the barrel, only this "The Marlin Firearms Co., New Haven, Conn. U.S.A." and under that is this "Model 99 Auto-Micro-Groove Barrel-Cal. 22 L.R.". Thats all that is on this rifle. I was told that it was from 1959, but have been told before that the gold trigger started in 1962. Any further info would be great.

It would be stamped C if it was a 99C, so in this case we're looking at a 99 (no designation).
The model 99 was made from 1959-61, the C model replaced it with a nicer Monte Carlo stock, gold trigger/etc...

It is Entirely Possible that a previous owner installed a gold trigger...as the 99 regular didn't have one, started in '62, like you said.
If it was sent in for any repairs under warranty during the Gold Trigger Era, Marlin would have returned it with a goldie...just to be nice...

Got Pics??

Oh, also look for two tiny letters about a half-inch under the rear sight mounting point...on the left side of the barrel.
That's where they put 'em on my 99-G, which is marked "Marlin" in cursive script,
then to the right, "Glenfield Products, New Haven, Conn USA"
underneath that is "99 G --------------Cal. .22lr"

Code is as follows:
Marlin Year of Manufacture
