As I recall,the pistol mags didn't operate the bolt hold open after the last shot mechanism like the original mags did,then again,my recall ain't like it used to be.
Marlin hasn't made their Camp Carbine in several year. It fell victim to Bill Clinton and his assault rifle ban in the 1990's.
The prices on the Camp Carbines have skyrocketed. The 9mm is going for about $400. The scarce .45 ACP version is even more - a used one will cost more than a new Beretta Storm.
They are great little guns. I should have picked up a 9mm back when used ones were selling for $250.
how much more power does a 9mm develope when shot through a marlin camp nine vs when shot through a pistol such as a browning hp? ive been considering a used camp nine, but cant decide if i can really use one...... will they generally take reloads or are they finickey? can anyone inform me of advantages and disadvantages of shooting the 9mm marlin camp nine?

The 9mm may pick up 200-300 fps in the 16" barrel,some loads approaching .357 performance with out all the flash and blast.
I like pistol caliber carbines,especially in the home.
I can't speak about the 9mm, but I wouldn't own another .45 if they gave them away. I went thru four trigger block assemblies in mine before I finally just put it together and sold it. For the same price as the Marlin is commanding, the Ruger .44 Mag carbine is a better deal.

Yup,I bought then sold mine when I realized what a pain it was to strip and reassemble,shot good though.
Lots more choices out there now.
