Question Camp 9

My brother has a camp 9 carbine and it always jams on the last round, but only in the standard capacity marlin and S&W magazines. It shoots flawlessly with a 30 round mag. do any of you know why this is?

I have a frind with one but he has been using Mec-Gar magazines that are all 20-25 rd capacity, with no problem. Were the Stock mags new? It could be spring fatigue. Does he store the mags loaded to full capacity? Because this could increase spring fatigue. Also if the mags are used or they have been shot a lot, it may just be time to pull the floor plates and scrub out the insides with a toothbrush and some gun oil.

Hope this helps.

I'm new to the forum but not to the Marlin Camp 9. Seeing as I live (for the meantime) in the People's Republik of Kalifornia, the Marlin is about as "military" a carbine as I'm going to (legally) own. I bought a bunch of after-market magazines of various makes before the dreaded hi-capacity ban took effect, and I've found that all function well, even the el-cheapos. However, I got rid of the cheaper magazines because they had thinner walls, and I would often times slice my thumb on the feed lips when reloading.
Too bad Marlin discontinued them, they claim poor sales, I think they were afraid of having their products being associated with "military" applications, whether militia, gangsters, etc.

I had a Camp 45 back in the day, and it wasn't great feeding either, no matter what mag was used.

Hello folks. Bought a camp 9 a few days ago and I'm trying to find some additional mags plus a sling for it. Any advice? Thanks.

Welcome, Chuck! The Marlin Camp 9 is one of my favorite plinkers, and I'm sure it will be yours, too. Do you have a manual?? If not, email me and I'll send you a photocopy. Assembly/disassembly can be a little tricky the first time 'round.
My advice is to first get rid of the magazine safety, this will decrease your trigger pull immensely, though you may have to polish the sear anyway to get a decent trigger pull.
The front sight hood is a force-fit, and can easily slide off nonetheless. It tends to come off when taking the gun out of the case when it snags on the interior.
The magazines are those of the Smith & Wesson Models 59 for sure and 69, I think. In any case, read my post about the aftermarket mags.
Best wishes,

Hi Steve, thanks very much for the offer to send me the manual. I'm sure that will come in handy. I was wondering if there was a way to shorten the trigger pull. Glad to hear there is. I now have 3 mags, courtesy of Ebay, so I might get one of the SW 59's and call it quits. Been trying to figure out how to get your email address but no luck, so here's mine.

Thanks again.
