Scout Mount on Guide Gun?

I've got a Marlin Guide Gun in .450 Marlin. It wears XO ghost ring irons, but I wanted to mount optics. Anyone ever tried one with a Scout Mount? Can I pick up the target quickly, or search around? A conventional mount with long eye relief may be the ticket, but I was thinking of the Scout with Leupold detachable rings to keep both handy. Whaddya think?

sounds like the perfect set up...hope that caliber catches on..

I have vague plans on a Marlin 1894 in .44 magnum with a Bushnell HoloSight

The Holosight is a great optical addition to any gun. My buddy has one on a Berretta Strom rifle. It is accurate, and very fast on target. Should work great on a lever gun. Personally, I like the low power scope (that's even pushing it) for my tradionally minded preferences, though
