| Shooting military loads in Camp 9
Hey guys, I'm the proud owner of a Camp 9 for quite a few years. One of the first things I did was to take out the magazine safety, this alone made the trigger pull WAY more manageable! I've gone out of my way to purchase military 9mm Parabellum ammo, as the longer barrel would make more use out of the hot loadings. You should hear the ding plates ring with that fodder! I've found that British WWII ammo for the STEn works just fine, as does US military stuff from Winchester circa 1960s. However, I recently bought a huge amount of IMI stuff made expressly for the Uzi. It failed to ignite most of the time in the Camp Carbine, but my Inglis-made Hi Power digested it with total aplomb! I'm thinking that the primers are extra-hardened, and that a stronger firing pin spring would do the trick, but Wolf Springs was not too helpful, heck, they wouldn't even push their own springs for the bolt return. Any ideas?? Nagmashdriver in PRK (People's Republik of Kalifornia) |

Perhaps I'm missing something, but wouldn't it be the hammer spring that would need to be stiffer? Thanks very much for the report, and welcome to Gunandgame!

Thanks for the nice welcome to the forum. Yeah, maybe the hammer spring, but nobody manufactures a replacement/stiffer than OE spring. In any case, my gunsmith (retired armorer from two big police departments) pooh-hooed the idea altogether, and with the cheap availability of 9mm Luger fodder, I'll take his advice. The ammo I'll sell to a buddy who has a full-auto Uzi, he'll use it up quick.
