Thumbs up Marlin 1894 357, modified to hold 10 rounds?

I've heard that the 1894 Marlin in 357 can have its 9 shot magazine modified to hold 10 rounds for Cowboy Action Shooting. I was also told that unmodified the little marlin 357 can hold 10 rounds of 38 special. Anyone know anything about this? I've always liked this short barreled carbine and was thinking of getting into CAS (again).

Guns chambered for 357 should feed and fire 38 Specials with no trouble. If you're not looking for long range or major stopping power, I'd say 38 special is a less expensive, lower recoil, and yes potentially higher capacity option.
