Marlin 57M - Junk?

I bought a pristine Marlin 57M last fall and have had nothing but problems with it every since. I bought it at an estate auction brought it home and had problems with it only firing two out of three rounds. Brought it to one" gun smith" who worked on the firing pin twice and only made the problem worse. Brought it to another gun smith that I have used in the past and he replaced the firing pin and the hammer spring. I fired 3 rounds it at his shop and everything worked well. Didn't touch it for a week and got it out last night and first it wouldn't feed a round into the chamber, went through 4-5 misfeeds in a row then it finally chambered a round. Fired it and then it wouldn't extract the round. Sending it back for the second guy to work on again but I'm done with this POS. No shops in my area will work on these and all seem to remember them as being nothing but trouble when I ask about repairs.

Where the levermatics as crappy as this one seems or is my gun smith? My plan is to trade it without even firing it after I get it back. The nearest shop that will work on this one is over 140 miles away.

I'm not familiar with that model so I can't help any. You might contact the guys at Brownells' tech line. Brownells - World's Largest Supplier of Firearm Accessories and Gunsmithing Tools If you don't mind me asking, what do you want for it?

I paid $150 for it when I bought it. Like I said its in "new" condition, the blueing is 100% and the stock has no scratches in it. But if its been crap since new its no wonder it spent its life on the rack. The first "repair" was only $38.00 but never fixed anything but I learned the local guy doesn't know his stuff so it might save me down the road. The second "repair" was $86.00 so now I have more in it then its worth. But without fixing it again its a parts gun.
