Marlin .22 win mag.

I went down to the Pawn and Gun shop a little while ago to see if the ammo came in for my CZ 82. Will be tomarrow.
While there I noticed the Marlin gun section, so I begin to look at them.
I spotted a new Model 983 T 22 magnum so I took it off the rack to check it out...I wanted it !! So I ask if they traded guns and they said they did.
So I drove home and got my I think model "782" Marlin 22 mag. to go back and trade.
This is the only rifle my son ever would take to the woods with him when he went hiking and what not, so it had a few dings on it.
Anyway back at the gun store they go to looking it over and looking in books to see what to give for it.
The guy that owns the shop is an old school friend, looks at me and says how about your gun and $ 100.00 Bucks and said it's a deal !
I paid $69.99 for this older Marlin back when I was 21 years old so I think I did o.k. paying a differents of $ 100.00 dollars.
The new Marlin was priced at 207.99 and the guy didn't charge me sales tax !
This paticular model has the tube under the barrel and composit stocks the one I traded had wood stocks with the uglest pressed in design on the grip and forearm you ever saw....A.H

That might have been an antique u just traded in tsk tsk. U got the gun at 21? So that means ur old gun is approximately 87 years old. You should have sold it online!

Thumbs up

Nah - no great value to a 782. Ya done good.

I agree on those cheapo birchwood stocks with pressed 'checkering' and designs - ugly! The laminate stock alone is worth $65 or more. The new trigger is better too.
You traded up from a small Ford to a better-dressed Merc!

I heard a co-worker tell the ole school chum that it most of sold for around 79 dollars when I bought it.
T-T it wouldn't have been an antique for another 2oo years.
And I knew what I was doing. I hated the stock on this gun. I think I did o.k....A.H

P.S. I'm not but fiddy 3 years old, but I look 37 as you'll soon see if I can get this D.H. son of mine to post some pictures of my guns and Herbert and me.
