That's either a typo or someone with no knowledge of what it is. Marlin and Winchester are\were two totally separate companies even though some of their guns look similar.

I agree with toolman on this too. One notable thing about this rifle is the pistol grip, it's different.
The sticker on the forearm is a marlin sticker that they use to put on or still put on there rifles.

I saw that you can contact the person have you tried that? My only thought was maybe he meant 30-30 win made by marlin and he accidentally flipped the two brands Or maybe hes thinking a 30/30 marlin type rifle made by Winchester.

Thats humerous!It could be a Marlin chambered for .30-30 Win,or it could be a Winchester chambered for .30-30 Marlin.Darn global market.I'm confused enough. sam.

Marlin makes the gun but it is .30-30 Winchester

Marlin = gun maker
Winchester = inventor of .30-30 Winchester cartridge

Wichester developed the .30-30 cartridge in the
late 1800's then used it for the earliest days of smokeless (nitrocellulose) powder.
Although not usually named .30-30 Winchester
in modern discussion, it was really a Winchester
development.

I think the 30-30 was a black power cartridge many many moons ago.
