A friend has a Marlin 1893 with takedown and "Special Smokeless Steel" stamped on it. Wanting to get an approximate date of manufacturer.

Mike its after mine probably the early 1900's or very late 1890's I have a early one with BlackPowder only on the barrel in excellent condition in 32-40 what cal is yours in --- I am doing new wood this year so the original stuff can be preserved and the new stuff I can use the rifler in the field
