I've had an 1895SS for several years and it's a ball to shoot.Bone stock rifle except for the addition of a Wild West trigger which I consider to be a good addition over the factory job.

300gr Partitions
63 grains of Benchmark

Shot one deer with it and it was tho' it had been hit with a giant fryin' pan.

Congrads on the new gun they have a new model out with over sized lever(like the riflemans or the dukes in stagecoach) that I have a liking for hope I can save enough to get one.

There's a lot of folks out there that look at the charts of bullet drop and think using a particular round for long range work is untenable...but all it takes is the proper sights & lotsa practice Europeans regularly shoot twice the distance most folks in the US do, and they tend to shoot game that's running, instead of walking or standing still.

Personally I like to get up as close as possible...most of the time I hunt with a bow and NEED to be under 60 yards, so the closer I get when gun hunting, the more practice I get for Bow hunting

Marlin is comeing out with a 338 caliber leveraction rifle that is suppose to be equal to the 30-06.
The receiver will be the sameone used for the big bore rifle's and they'll be 2 models.
One will look like the XLR's and the other model will be a blued version with a slightly shorter Barrel.

I have a guide gun and like it, it doesn't muzzleflash too bad at all and the recoil is not excessive. Haven't hunted with it as my old Remington Mohawk just fits me so much better. It is fun to shoot though.
