| need new marlin round what do you think of a new round for the 336. Im thinking .45-70 necked down to .375. what about it. maybe someone from marlin is reading this. At least they could offer a 375 JDJ. Or a 33 cal round. At least bring back the 336ER in 356 Win.

| I had a Win 94 Big Bore in 375 Win and loved it. I paid $105 for it new, and had to sell her in rough times. That was a fun rifle! I wish Someone would bring back the 358 Win as well.

| I'm lucky enough to have a 336ER in .356 and love it. I am dumb enough tho to have traded a mint 94BB in .307 away, but I suppose I do like the BLR in .358 that I traded it towards a tad more anyway. The .356 was/is a super round and with LE bullets today it would be the equal of the great .358 Win. IS ANYBODY LISTENING AT MARLIN!!! |

| Turner Ive wanted a 336ER now since I first read about them. I have yet to come across one. In the shooting times issue where they first came out with 7mm STE they had the ballistics of the 356 and it equaled the 35 whelen with the 250 gr. round. Ive called and sent letters over the years. maybe one day they will listen. I am glad to see the .308 express. But I still want more. I had to seel most of my guns as well Steve. What takes years to aquire seems to go in minutes.

| I know that there are .270 vs 30/06 guys and Winchester vs Marlin guys (add gals to both those please , also). I've always been a fan of the 336 over the M94. I'd even have to admit that as much as I love my .358 BLR, that 336ER is even nicer handling. Yup, we NEED a medium bore lever like a .338 Marlin Express (or .358ME) It would fill a wonderful need for a handy lever with some extra....UUUUUUUUUMMMFFFFFFFFF !!! |

| Nothing wrong with the .405 Win . But, if you do some checking, I think you might find that the .444 with warm to hot loads is everything the .405 ever was, plus bigger. I think the .444 is another round vastly misunderstood by the shooting public, maybe because the original 240gr loading was not necessarily good for bigger than deer and black bear. The new loadings take it to a whole new place! Last edited by turner; 04-09-2008 at 10:26 AM. |

| I always liked the 265 gr load in the .444. If I remember right the .444 was a favorite of elk guides.

I sold a Marlin in .45-70 to a buddy way back when I had my FFL. That was a nice shooting gun. The recoil was no big deal. Shot a big ole' chunk of lead, too. | |

| I had a friend that was really into Marlins. He was always talking about wishing they'd adopt either the .375 JDJ (like that would ever happen) or make a rimmed short 8mm Mauser from the .444. Chambering for a "new" .307 or .358/444 would be easy since those have been around for a while. Now that Remington owns them, who knows. Remington does strange things sometimes. |

| DW the 336ER was made from 1983-1986 it came in .356win and .307win. But Ive never seen or heard of one in .307 win.
