Marlin Model 25 .22 LR Rifle Scope?

Hi all,

I recently bought and old Marlin model 25 .22 LR rifle... just like the one I had as a kid in the early 70's.

I adjusted the sights as best I could but it still shoots high. Other than that the gun is in really good shape and I don't want to take it out of "original condition" by filing down the front sights or anything.

I was thinking of adding an inexpensive lower power scope to the rifle for varmit and bird hunting. I also have minature goats and coyotes are a problem around here.

I haven't had rifles since I was a kid in the 70's and could use some advice.

Does anyone have any scope suggestions and know what the mounting sleeve specs are? I am on a very limited budget.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
BD

don't file the front sight down, it will make the shot higher. For a cheap .22 scope setup, go with Weaver medium .22 and air rifle rings with a Sportsman's Guide scope. They actually have a Simmons with .22 rings for $40.

I have been buying (for myself and 3 kids) 3x9 simmons for $35 to $45. This is all you would need.

Oops, I got that backwards...

But yeah, I don't want to do any "field modifications" on the sights at all. I want to keep the gun as "original" as possible.

Thanks guys, that is the price range I am looking at.

Any chance on getting links to these scopes you are talking about?

search 'scopes' when you get there. Buy the cheap ones.

As for ammo, go to a Walmart and get 550 rounds for about $13
