Here's an Inexpensive Ramline stock from Numrich $24.25...mine's on the way
NOTE: its for the Model 70, the predecessor to the 795...so you may have to hand-fit (also known as filing, sanding, etc) to allow LSHO lever/Trigger Guard Marlin 70 Rifle Ramline Non-Folding Lockarm Stock*|*e-GunParts.com
I'll let you know how it all turns out when I get my 795

It showed up about an hour ago, looks just like the pic It's the Square-back trigger guard configuration on New Model 70HC's & 795's & 995's
Now I'm thinking that I need a Stainless 795SS to go in it
I'm noticing that it looks like the Lock-Arm stock would be really easy to make unlock & fold...I'm fiddling with it now to see if it's an easy mod or if it's going to take a little work. The main thing that would have to be done is to figure out a locking system to hold the arm in place after un-folding it.
But for $25.25...I'm willing to fiddle a bit
I'm also noticing that I'll probably want to pillar bed this stock...and perhaps bed a rod into the foregrip for extra stability.

Why would they make a non-folding lock arm stock? Do some states find folding stocks offensive?

So for awhile...folding stocks were not entirely legal IF they fell into a certain category.

Well, I've not bought a 795SS yet, because the wifey wants me to fix the dishwasher before buying any more rifles So now I have a dishwasher in a slight state of disassembly...dead pump...waiting on new pump to arrive...
The only mod I think will need doing is the trigger guard is SLIGHTLY different between the 70 & 795 (both square-back)...which should be pretty darn simple. If it's even needed at all.
Anytime you put a NEW Non-MFR stock on something, you have to expect at least a LITTLE bit of hand-fitting to get it perfect...I plan on pillar-bedding for precision after the test-fitting is done. When one goes thru the trouble of a new stock...might as well

The Boyd's stock is now SOLD OUT. They made 170, and they went FAST!!
If YOU want a thumbhole stock for your Marlin 60 or 795, WRITE BOYD'S!!! customers@boydsgunstocks.com < customers@boydsgunstocks.com>
Be specific, look at Boyd's site MARLIN 60 THUMBHOLE STOCK SHADY CAMO LAMINATE and figure out what kind of stock & what colors you'd like to see...then LET THEM KNOW!!
(Hint: lighter colors give you more staining options )
Jen at Boyd's has been VERY helpful so far

| Marlin 795 mods.
To add weight to the overly light Marlin 795 stock, two things that are easy come to mind. First you can add sand baggies inside butt until it feels about right. Second, use KISS method in fore-end. I've seen all kinds of complicated methods discussed. Simply go to your local tire shop and buy the stick-on wheel weights designed for alloy wheels. They come in sticks of about twelve 1/4 ounce weights, with peel off backs. You can cut them up into bite size and stick them in any nook and cranny up front until it feels right to you. I got about six ounces in mine and love the heft. Raised total rifle weight to about 5.5 to 6 pounds.
Try it. Add as little or as much as you like!

It's a Pic Base that fits on your 3/8" rail! Held on by 6 setscrews, it ain't gonna move like those Other Rails | Aw crap! I'm going to He^^. I ordered a red dot for my daughters 795 using the standard 3/8" dovetail mount on th gun. If I'd been a bit more aware, I would have gone this route. Is the 3/8" really that evil for performance or is the rail very nice to have if one already had optics to mount that are non 3/8"?

I'll let you know how it all turns out when I get my 795 | That ramline stock looks cool! I have a model 60SB I was thinking about spending the $40-$50 to convert to clip-feed instead of the tube mag. Would this stock aid me in my quest?
Also, I've been dying to know why the muzzelite bullpup stock won't work for a lefty??

Do us all a favor, take pics of the process when you convert the 60 to a 70...it'd help several members on multiple boards. Make your own thread here in the Marlin section when ya do it
The Bullpup would throw empty hot casings into a lefty's face...
which would lead to Bang, OWCH...Bang, OWCH...lol

Make your own thread here in the Marlin section when ya do it | Well, I must first tell you that I am NO smithy, but I'm VERY mechanically inclined. I have about 75% confidence that it will work. I found the conversion here: Marlin 60 Converted to 70 - Rimfire Shooting
I left a message on that board, but the last time the guy posted was in 2008. He never said if it works or not, but if you navigate to the photobucket page, you can see a few shots of it (most importantly of the mag well he touched up with the good ol' rotary tool). Take a look, as I have read enough of your posts that I know you know more intimately what to look for. How confident are you? I plan to get the trigger group worked on anyway, which is part of the conversion...
EDIT:
Also, I found THIS: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Can_a_Marl...ed_to_clip_fed
The above page at WikiAnswers says that Ramline makes magazines too... I'll have to look into that!

I think the problem that guy had was the 15-round National Magazine junker.
National Mags SUCK.
Trigger group is best replaced by a Rimfire Technologies trigger guard Those guys do it RIGHT

Thanks for the link on the conversion- That's something I've been looking at doing. In fact, I posted a thread over in 'gunsmithing' on the very subject. I'm an amateur/hobby 'smith, and have one of my friends who is a 'smith review the process (before I saw this link) and it definitely looks do-able.
