So glad I found this thread!

I'm not really a gun guy, but I moved out to the sticks not long ago and decided I needed a gun. Went to a local shop and they had a new Model 60SS in the ATI stock (evidently ordered it for someone who just wanted the laminated stock) and I figured it was about perfect.

Anyway, I've had it about 3 weeks and couldn't get through a magazine without the FTE problem. The Winchester brick they sold me would jam every 5 rounds or less. Took it back to the shop--they said it was the bullets and gave me some Remington Golden Bullets. Jammed about once every tube or more with those...wasn't fun having to take needle-nose pliers out to shoot.

Finally just went to Walmart and got some CCIs-Mini-Mags and Stingers and Remoil. Broke it down, gave it a good cleaning...and it still jammed about once a mag.

But, I found this thread today with the nickel picture. Opened it up, went to work with my pliers, dialed it in, and cleaned the feeder lips. Took it out behind the house with a box of Blazers and MiniMags and it ate through about 70 rounds with no jams.

Finally feel like I have a gun I can rely on. I'm renting a house on a 200+ acre tree farm, so its just nice to have one to carry with me exploring the woods and such.

Anyway, thanks big shrek for the good info!

Also, check your feed ramp & make sure it's polished to a high shine...makes ammo slip in easyer.
Hi Big Shrek,

I recently bought a new Marlin 795 for my son, and it has number of firing problems. The rifle would fire maybe up to five rounds then it would jam, it usually jammed with FTE. We cleaned it number of times but kept jamming and failure to eject empty shells. It is a sharp shooter except the problems mentioned. Thank you

I would say if it's still under warranty send it back to Marlin. Cause if you do the work yourself that will void the warranty.

Hi there,
Thank you for the advice. My geographical location robbed me of my warranty. I am in the islands and I am wondering if anybody may have found the solution to such problem. My first 795 did not have such problem but have a canted rear sight which I really did not mind. I thought Marlin was going to do something about the defects on the 795 model. Thank you.
