I just bought a used marlin model 60 from an ohio valley outdoors for my brother a week ago. I took it home and cleaned it all up and tried to shoot it some. There's one problem though, and that is it continues to stovepipe jam and jam the spent cartridges above the next one stopping it from loading all the way. I don't know what's wrong with it whether its the extractors or something else. If it is simply a part, how much would it cost to replace?

loosen the bolts holding it to the stock, tighten the forward one as tight as you can, then just snug up the rear one. go fire it.
keep doing this until it feeds right.
I agree with trying different ammo. I tried the Wolf match in my model 60 and it would jam and stove pipe. When I use the CCI, the rifle works as it is suppose to. If you find you need parts, you can try e-gun-parts, or Numerich gun parts. The model 60 is not hard to work on....Ray

Try different ammo. Make sure you use high velocity stuff. What are you currently using?
If it continues...break it down and thoroughly clean the bolt and extractors. Many older guns have never had the bolts deep cleaned.
Also ensure the recoil spring coils are clean.
Lube any areas that show abrasion where the bolt slides on the receiver housing. A dry graphite will work well. Try to avoid 'wet' lube as it will collect cartrdge residue and create a lo of gunk in the receiver and bolt recesses.

I have tried other ammo types and that wasn't the problem, plus i have taken it completely apart and cleaned it thoroughly and lightly oiled it where necessary. None of this seemed to work until i pulled up on the ejector spring a little and then the gun seemed to cycle a lot better but still jams some. I think i will tinker around with it a little more until it works, and if i break something i will just buy a new part. Thanks guys.
Double-check the two divots on each side of the barrel inside the action.
Make sure (with a dental pick) that they are completely free of all gunk.
getting the angle on the ejector spring just right is a bit of a trick...but read that FTE page and it includes pics
And...what sort of ammo are you using?
If it's Remington, there's half the problem
CCI minimags are my go-to ammo for figuring out what's wrong...if it stovepipes with CCI, I know it's internal difficulties, and not the ammo.
Also, check those extractors, sometimes they round off with heavy use...compare them with new ones and see if they are contributing to the problem.
I cleaned out those divots really good and i use federal ammo which works fine for me in all of our other guns, plus its a little bit cheaper than CCI. I will never again buy a box of the dudmaster remington golds. After looking at those pictures the ejector spring in mine doesnt come out that far over the feed slot. I think i will try to bend it out some and see if that helps. If not maybe it is the extractors but i don't know what new ones look like. All i have is an old gun with ones that could be worn. If you have any pics of new ones could you post them on here for me. Thanks again Big Shrek.
Check the side plates of the trigger housing. There should be three E-clips on each side. If one or more of the clips is missing the sideplates CAN cantor out of line and cause the problems you have.
You can get replacement E-clips from Numrich for $3 each or from your local hardware store for around 2 cents. The clips are 3/32 clips.
I had this issue on a Marlin 989-M2 which, basically, has the same trigger group.

are any of the cassings comeing out split ? I shot mine to death when I was a kid it first sarted what you descibe then the cassings started to split the chamber had over heated to many times and expanded.
im having a problem with my extracors im guessing it will shoot one and then load and not fire, and not extract it any ideas?
sounds like two problems.
the trigger spring may need adjusting/replacing.
Check the Extractors carefully, quite often one will be sticky or frozen in place...it means you need to clean the living daylights out of the bolt assembly. Make sure the ends look sharp
If one feels weaker in springyness than the other...clean first, if that doesn't work, replace.
You can either drop it in a bucket of carb cleaner for a few hours, or spray it with CLP's Powder Blast (or other similar product) to get them to move properly.
If the cleaners fail to resolve the problem...let us know
