| M-48 From Mitchell I am considering the "Mitchell Mausers" M-48 collector grade Mauser. (about $300.) After reading the specs I still can't tell if these are original or re-built. Does anyone have any info on these? Thanks. |

| I would caution against going with Mitchell's - you can get M48's in unissued condition elsewhere for half the price, with the accessories. Check Shotgun News for the vendors. My take from what i've read of Mitchell's is that these rifles are probably reworks, and their ads aren't always honest. They equate the M48 with the Kar98k - they are different actions entirely - the parts don't interchange. I have no doubt they are good rifles, but the money you save will buy a case of ammo!

| Agreed, Mitchell's prices have always been higher than other vendors carrying the same rifle, in fact it appears their price has gotten even higher. While they may not be as plentiful with all accesories as a year ago or so you should be able to find a nice one for a lot less, good luck.
