FAC is advertising inspected grade k98 mausers from ww2, russian re-arsenald pick ups from stalingrad(so they claim) with nazi markings, and in excellent condition and the nazi marking not peened over, with most matching numbers, mitchell mauser is advertising k98 serbian un issued for the same price, do I go with the with the the unissued serbian? or the nazi battle field pick up?

Go with FAC or AIM has some as well, Empire Arms has even better examples but they will be a little more. The thing with Empire is that you know you will get a great rifle, Dennis Kroh is an excellent guy to deal with. The Mitchell Mausers are not true K98s but are really the M48 Mausers made in Yugoslavia. If you want an M48 you can get one for less at other places for less.

| Deffinatly the WWII mil surp
Russian Capture or Yugo Reworks of K98's are the way to go, and the Yugo reworks are just as good k98 rifles with out the Nazi markings on RC's. These mil surp k98's are large ring standard action models. The reworks have a Yugo crest, and don't have that junky Russian finish. Also, many Yugo's have matching bolts, but the RC's were torn apart by the Russians so that RC's are all parts guns. The Yugo reworks run from $109 to 200, but the RC's run from $189 to 500. Dennis Krol from Empire and Alan Sychel from Alans Armory have very good+ to excellent RC's. Mitchel Mausers are Yugo M1948, intermedient, k98 large ring actions, and HAVE NO collectability, however they are great shooters but over priced from Mitchels! infer |

I have an unissued M48 but I can't make out the importers mark on the barrel. I'm not even sure it is an import mark. Its extremely small and I cant make out a single letter. It was $150. Like infer said, they may not be collector items but are darn nice rifles for the money. Its a great rifle for someone who wants to sporterize it and not destroy a true Nazi collectible. Mitchells Mausers. $295 for an M48....no thanks. |

| M48 unissued
I got a excellent M48 with no evedience of it being fired, and they'res the inked numbers (in a foreign style) of the serial # hand written over the S# engraved on the wood. I got it from Prince William Antiques and Collectables at GunBrokers.com. It will make a great shooter! infer |
