| I was out enjoying my Turk today Thought I'd give it a serious try on paper. Even though I was using the cheap turk surplus ammo, I found it was a bit more accurate than I expected. It was shooting 1 1/2 inch groups at 100 yds! Considering the lousey battle sights on that old 1944 beastie, that seems pretty darn good! And yes, it was off the sandbags. The m44 Yugo was spreading them out to 7 inches! I know which one I prefer!

| I've had similar experiences with Turk Mausers, jimb2. These old rifles seem to be very well matched to the Turk Surplus ammo.....they like it hot and dirty, I reckon. I've also never been able to make a reasonable group using commercial 8mm ammo (US load stuff, that is). The S&B groups OK, but still not as well as the Turk surplus. Glad you got to go Turk shooting. I'm envious. I really love those beasts. |

| Senior Member | Me Too Finally shot the unissed Yugo last week. Tightened the reciever and grouped better. Still dissappointed it was not a tack driver. Tried some Romanian, the laquered green steel case stuff. It was more consistant. Seemed to group in same area with a cold barrel. As barrel warmed, yep, all over the place. Two years ago, pulled bullets out of Turk ammo, reloaded with same powder but relpaced FMJs with 150 commercial. Very accurate! Later sold the Turk to a co-worker. Asked him that if he ever wanted to sell it give me first chance. SOB sold it to his brother!

| I'm not positive, but I think the rate of twist in a turk is slower than in a Yugo. The Yugos tend to like heavier bullets. Try some 200 grain bullets in the Yugo and see if that improves matters. Then try them in the turk. I'll bet you can find some load in that neighborhood that they both find acceptable.
