I would be a happy man were I to own an M1A. They're mighty expensive for a po man, though....there's been one in a shop in town for at least 6 months now. It's in excellent shape, but he wants over $1100 for it.

Czech it out G3!! Nice rifle!! What is it chambered in? Hey James & PapaG, the 14 is over in the desert as we speak! Actually M1A's mostly. The Marines issued them to a couple of guys in a lot o the units because: 1 - They're in the desert. and 2 - M16's CAN'T SHOOT 800 to 1000 YARDS!!!! The Garand and M14/M1A are two of the finest rifles ever produced, of course ANYTHING in 7.62X51 is good in my book. I always get beat up for saying it but I just don't like Colt space guns (16's). I'm full armorer rated on them and can fix anything that needs fixin on one, I just don't like 'em, - too small. (I know G3, I'm a .308 whore too, I can accept that!)

G3's firepole is chambered for 8x57, but I think he enjoys the bayonet the most....! Good to hear about the continued use of the M-14 by the Corps, MAX7.62. That's a great location to show what a real rifle can do. I was very pleased when the M16A2 was finally issued (tremendous improvement over the M16A1......the original M16 isn't worth discussing), but I still prefer the M-14. |
